Since its founding more than seventy years ago, the Moiseyev Dance Company, through its extensive touring schedule, has brought its theatre of national dance to millions of its fans. Igor Moiseyev (1906-2007), the company’s founder, created over 300 original works for this dancers. Among highlights in this present collection are the “Polovetsian Dances” from Prince Igor; the mesmerizing Partisans, in which the dancers glide across the stage as if riding on ice skates while keeping their upper bodies immobile; and, Gauchos, in which three male dancers take machismo to elaborate lengths.
